‘Stars’ – New Release
This is the fifth release of a song written & performed by Nick, 40 years ago and produced by his childhood friend, Gary Numan. For the first time since 1981 as a 12” vinyl, Stars is available now in all good record shops and online. Special thanks goes to Neppa and Word & Sound in Germany for having faith in the song.
I was staggered when my label alerted me to this extraordinary introduction to the re-release of Stars, by DJ, Luke Una. Thank you, Luke, a tip of the hat to you, my friend.
A little background on this song, What She Wants. Nick wrote it, and recorded it in his studio at home, then took it to Gary Numan’s studio where he produced the final track. After that, he decided to shoot a video for it with an amazing cameraman, Mr. Piers Housego. It also features his great friend of over 40 years, Mr. Matt Forrest.
This is the final song Nick recorded before embarking on his writing voyage. It’s called Obsession, and he finished the song in an FL studio in 2018.
This is a song called Rain, which Nick wrote back in the 1990s. However, a collaboration with remixer, Ostlan, changed it into a new club version that’s almost ten minutes long.
Nick remembers being so moved by Farrah Fawcett-Major’s performance in the made-for- TV movie, The Burning Bed, that he decided to write a song about the film and include dialogue from the actors within the song. Having written the song, he then edited a video for it, using the original film footage. Nick believes that had it been a cinema release, Farrah would have won an Oscar for her portrayal of the extraordinarily courageous, real-life heroine, Francine Hughes.
